Here is another comprehensive, economical and impressive printing technique called thermography which is being offered by Global printing services. In simple words, thermography is a process of raising ink on the sheet. The core intention behind creating this technique is to stimulate engraving at a lesser cost. At Global printing services, thermography process is executed with a “thermo” unit or a normal offset press which is further connected to the end of the duplicator (press). Elaborately, at Global printing services, the printed sheet (printed with the ink) comes off the press on a conveyor belt, further under a unit; a resin is dropped over the entire sheet. After that, the same sheet is passed via a vacuum unit in order to remove the resins which aren’t attached to the wet ink. In the final stage, the sheet passes through a heating unit so that the resin over the ink can melt to give it a raised effect. Often, people compare thermography with engraving but the unavoidable fact is that thermography is more shinier and impressive technique of printing than engraving. In thermography, wastage is minimal because when the sheet turns over it doesn’t get crushed unlike engraving. Factually, thermography is predominantly used on business cards and stationary but now days it’s being utilized for other purposes as well, for instance, it’s used for designing on advertising pieces and brochures. Basically, there are two types of thermography printing processes:-
In Direct thermal printing process, the paper is coated with a particular material that retains colour changing propensity when heated. On the other, the thermal transfer printing process is a cumbersome process. Under this process, a ribbon is melted onto a sheet while heating. This process is also known as thermal ink transfer printing. |
